Fight The Good Fight

from Still Human by Ian Peacock

/

about

I've realised that many of my lyrics can be critical. I wanted to try and redress the balance a little by celebrating some of the simple pleasures and goodness in life; food, music etc. Borrowing the main hook from a biblical phrase, the song is an uplifting, jazzy number.

lyrics

Let there be music, let there be food,
let there be beauty, let there be truth, whatever is lovely, whatever is pure,
If there be hatred, may love be the cure

In the dark of the night there is a light
for every valley there is a mountain high

So keep on believing, though you be grieving, hope will restore your sight
Learn from your lesson, share all your blessings, keep fighting the good fight

Keeping an eye out for goodness,
and keeping an ear for what's sound,
making a space for forgiveness,
taking it as all holy ground,
We're making a strong case for justice,
We're making a quest now for peace,
Praying for people imprisoned,
Calling the poor to the feast
