No Beauty In The World

from The End Of Faith by Ian Peacock & Friends

/

about

Whilst there is much ugliness in the world, there is also so much beauty: flowers, animals, the ocean, mountains, children's laughter, friendship etc. Can you imagine a world without beauty?

If life was purely functional, existing by species trying to preserve and spread their own genes at the expense of others', by random mutations and adaptation, over billions of years, then I believe the world would be a much darker place. In fact, I just don't believe it!

Beauty for beauty's sake is one of the arguments for the existence of a creator God, and we, being made in His image, reflect His creative beauty whenever we paint a picture, write a song or story or cook up a culinary masterpiece!

lyrics

We’re lost souls in black holes, living every single day
Never see a beautiful sunrise
So cold, we’d grow old, hard of heart and sad of face
Never see the children laugh or smile

If there was no beauty, If there was no beauty,
If there was no beauty...in the world

Ooh…. no beauty in the world

If just cells and nowt else but chemicals and DNA
Share our genes and pass our memes, no meaning

There would be no beauty, There would be no beauty,
There would be no beauty in the world

Ooh…. no beauty in the world

But I know that my soul is singing every single day
Living in the beautiful Son’s eyes
