Anchor For My Soul

from He Crowns The Humble by Ian Peacock

/

about

This song draws on three passages of scripture: Ecclesiastes 3 and Hebrews 6 and 2 Corinthians 4. What ties them together is the reality that life can be painful and challenging; times of mourning, times of opposition and times of storm but in the midst of them all, Jesus remains our anchor - the one who never changes in his firm commitment to us.

lyrics

A time to mourn, a time to weep - lamenting all the pain we see
A time to hurt, a time to grieve - to learn to wait so patiently
But all I know, all I know..

Is that we have this hope, through the storm, an anchor for my soul
Sure and strong - it will be my song, it will be my song.

A time to stop, a time to speak, to learn to hold what’s ours to keep
A time to plant, a time to weed - await the fruit of scattered seed

But all I know, yes, all I know..

Is that we have this hope, through the storm, an anchor for my soul
Sure and strong - it will be my song, it will be my song.

Hard pressed on every side, perplexed but not denied
Struck down a thousand times, like dead but watch us rise

Jesus, you’re my hope through the storm, an anchor for my soul
Sure and strong, you will be my song
