Still Human

by Ian Peacock

/
1.
Love, love is patient, love is kind, Throws its body on the line, transcends space and time And love, love was hung upon a cross, Came to seek and save the lost, Paid the highest cost in blood Faith, hope and love - all yours for free Faith, hope and love - choose from just three Faith, hope and love - how it's plain to see Faith, hope and love - love's reigns supreme Keep the faith, move a mountain Holding hope like a fountain Overall, love is constant It will never fail

One By One 02:49
One by one by one You've lost more than you've won Your happiness is gone One by one by one The changes have begun and you know your time has come Stepping on heads, jumping in beds Risking your life to get out of the red Papering cracks, stabbing in backs Building up money just to buy what you lack What will it take for you to break free from the chains of this mould that you've made One by one by one You've lost more than you've won Your happiness is gone One by one by one The changes have begun and you know your time has come Two thirds or the world on a pound a day And you keep two cars in your drive way Two percent of the population take the doe While the rest still lament as they reap and sow You're told that you're looking after number one Turn round and you wonder where you friends have gone You strive to survive in the rat-race Fat cats wipe the smile from your fat face
3.
Let there be music, let there be food, let there be beauty, let there be truth, whatever is lovely, whatever is pure, If there be hatred, may love be the cure In the dark of the night there is a light for every valley there is a mountain high So keep on believing, though you be grieving, hope will restore your sight Learn from your lesson, share all your blessings, keep fighting the good fight Keeping an eye out for goodness, and keeping an ear for what's sound, making a space for forgiveness, taking it as all holy ground, We're making a strong case for justice, We're making a quest now for peace, Praying for people imprisoned, Calling the poor to the feast
4.
Walk a mile in the sandals, feel the scandal of a lost soul Left my home, fled the violence, sought aslyum in a new world Packed my hopes in a rucksack, walked the train track to the border Paid a price, forged a passport, pray I’m not caught by the law force Squeezed inside a container, now a sailor on a lone voyage Still human, I’m still here, still living with my fear You might wish I’d disappear, I’m still breathing, I’m still here Still human, I’m still here, still drowning in these tears And though freedom is so near, I’m still shackled, I’m still here Still human, I’m still here, still human, I’m still here, still human, I’m still here, still human Been a while in a strange place, with a court case undecided Gave my file to a law firm, but the short term, I’m just stranded Tried to prove I’m in danger, but a stranger can’t be trusted And as I wait with no meaning and no money I go hungry I go hungry…
5.
There once was a time when a lie wasn't black or white When sin had a name, not a game, there was wrong or right But oh how the soul can be blinded, binded, trapped inside a hole We deny it, hide it, circumcise it Try as I might be the light, there's an endless fight For the things I wanna do seem so hard to do And everything I hate sticks to me like glue And every time I feel that I'm standing tall The higher the height and the bigger the fall
6.
Overwhelmed I strive for more Don't know what I'm looking for Here my heart will find a home Justified by faith alone And things will never be the same....
7.
Danger on every side When greed and religion collide Innocent people will die Looking for places to hide I saw you shiver, you lips start to quiver - so long Stuck in the middle of some place where you don't belong You take advantage of war Steeling the land from the poor Chaos has opened its door Refugees swimming for shore I saw you shiver, you lips start to quiver - so long Stuck in the middle of some place where we don't belong Paid and delivered a six digit figure - It's wrong Sold down the river but we'll still be singing a song
8.
Bleary eyed I meet the morning, freezing cold my naked body Polyester, wool or cotton, summer sun is long forgotten Winds are blowing, leaves are falling, Sun is fading, nights are longing All the city streets are crawling, Hands and feet need winter warming A satalite receiving nothing, the engine cold the motor stalling Floating without fear of falling, on an interstellar voyage home to you, home to you When I come home to blazing fires, Will I come home to your desire? Far beyond the earth in orbit, galaxies and blazing comets Stary eyed, my heart is longing on an interstellar voyage home to you, home to you Coming home to you, home to you When I come home to blazing fires, will I come home to your desire?
9.
Grow old, cold, only at the right time Bought , sold, but only for the right price Truth, lies, spies, only through the right eyes Black, white, grey, heaven knows, you decide Rubber hits the road, rocks begins to roll, slipping down the slope Culture can corrode, will we explode? Fear, we're here, only in the night time Dreams, memes, seems everything is alright Heat, sweet, keep bottling it up inside Fall, crawl, sprawl, earth and comets will collide Rubber hits the road, rocks begins to roll, slipping down the slope Culture can corrode, Will we explode if we're all alone origins unknown Who will you phone, you're just a drone Everything is alright Only in the night time
10.
Oh Lord Oh, Oh Lord Oh, Sow Lord Sow, Grow Lord Grow.... You've got the law but it's so hard to keep it You know the truth but it's hard to believe it So keep running the road you've been given And keep your eyes on the prize, not the prison In the soil there's weeds with the wheat In every heart there's trust and deceite But don't bow to fear or suspicion As you sow in tears there's fruition

about

My fourth full length studio album, containing songs written and recorded over the last couple of years. It's quite eclectic in style and no record label would probably know how to market it, but that's fine by me. I like to write songs and try new things and feel this collection is quite different to the last.

I hope you enjoy it. If you do, or you have any questions/comments, feel free to get in touch via my website (www.ianpeacockmusic.com), facebook, email (theepeacocks@hotmail.com) or in person!
