I Will Too

from He Crowns The Humble by Ian Peacock

/

about

This is the only collaboration on this album, written with my good friend Tim Sawyer, who came up with pretty piano pattern and simple but powerful drum beat as a basis for the track. It’s also the first time I’ve ever used the ‘ebow’ guitar ‘toy’ (such good fun to play with!) which helps turn the guitar in to a violin (kind of).

Lyrically, each line starts with the presupposition ‘If God…’ and ends with ‘then I will too’, underlining the Christian desire to emulate the character of our creator. Have you ever thought about God looking at you and smiling, or laughing when you are enjoying yourself? What about him crying over the pain of the world’s brokenness or even singing over you as a parent sings over a baby?

If those thoughts sound incredible, how about the fact that God died for you? Yes, died…for…you. Now, that’s awesome.

lyrics

If God laughs as his children play, If God smiles when he sees your face
If God cries at the war-torn holes, if God dies for the sake of souls

If God sings symphonies for you, if God longs for us to know the truth
If God hates injustice and pain, if God loves the world he sustains
Then I will too, I will too.

If God waits ever patiently, if God cares for the refugee
If God speaks do we hear his call? If God knows that there is hope for all
Then I will too, I will too.
